1. Visible dirt or greasiness
Hand-sanitizers don’t remove the visible dirt from soiled hands like soil or dust and does not even remove the greasiness often found after handling food. Washing with soap and water would be more effective.
2. Hand sanitisers don’t work on certain germs
Alcohol based Hand Sanitizers are ineffective on certain germs like : Cryptosporidium, Norovirus, Hepatitis-A, Poliovirus, Polyomavirus, Calicivirus, Clostridium Difficile and a few more.
3. Chemicals, pesticides and heavy metals:
Studies show that alcohol based hand sanitizers are not effective in removing harmful chemicals or pesticides and do not remove heavy metals. In extreme cases, it is better to consult a poison control centre
