Discussion

  • A donor site is the area left where a piece of skin has been taken to cover a wound on another part of the body.
  • The dressings done are supposed to protect the raw surface and allow it to heal and soak up any fluid discharge from the site which may pool and cause wound infection.
  • In the shown case, the patient was put on a primary treatment regimen using MaxioCel wound care dressings to promote healthy epithelialization of the donor site.
Within two MaxioCel dressings(alternative days), i.e. 4 days, significant improvements can be seen in terms of exudate reduction, pain score and epithelialization.
